  • Gym Rat Workout Program
    The Gym Rat is a new ongoing program that is open to all authorized patrons at both Physical Fitness Centers. Join the Elite with 100 days of fitness, it’s easy and free! Obtain signatures from Fort Rucker gym staff on your form every time you attend your own workout or a group fitness class at either Fitness Center. When your form has 100 signatures, you will receive an exclusive Gym Rat t-shirt. Pick up your form from the front desk of either Physical Fitness Center and get started. Boot Camp participation will not be included in this 100 day event but time in the gym and fitness classes during Boot Camp will be allowed. Patron has up to 365 days to complete program.   • Run/Walk Program
    The Fort Rucker Physical Fitness Centers are now offering a Run/Walk Program. Run or walk and record your mileage at the front desk at either of the Physical Fitness Centers. This is an ongoing program where each member’s mileage total will be posted monthly and members will earn mileage patches based on their totals along the way. Reach 1000 miles and win a water bottle. Start racking up your miles today!   • Plank Challenge:
    Got a few minutes? Challenge yourself to hold a full plank for this month’s Plank Off. Just wait until you feel the energy from all the other participants. You will be inspired to hold longer than you think you can. Stop by either Physical Fitness Center for a Personal Trainer or Fitness Instructor to time your plank. This can be done from 5:45am-6:30pm. Or if you like to challenge others to be inspired to hold longer than you think you can, meet at Fortenberry-Colten PFC at 4:45pm to complete and challenge others. You will receive the month’s prize, along with your name and picture highlighted for the month as Plank Challenge Competition Winner. The Rules are: 1. Plank must be held in a full push-up position (on hands and feet). 2. Participants must maintain a straight body line from head to feet. 3. Both feet must remain on the ground. 4. Participants who deviate from proper starting positions in the full plank will be disqualified.

 

  • December 1, Turkey Burn: Join Fortenberry-Colton Physical Fitness Center and burn off that turkey dinner! There will be door prizes to be awarded, also fruit and water will be available to all participants. Classes will be held on December 1 with two sessions available from 10-2pm or 4-8pm and will include classes such as: Zumba, Tabata, Spin, Bodyweight Strength & Cardio, Yoga, and much more! These 4-hour fitness marathons are designed to help you burn off those extra dinner calories. The marathon will include a variety of classes, with a mixture of instructions every thirty minutes. The cost is $3.50 per 4-hour session, unless patron has monthly class card. Open to Authorized Physical Fitness Patrons.   • December 13, Mistletoe 5K &1 Mile Fun Run: The Fortenberry-Colton Physical Fitness Center, beginning at 9 am. Registration on the day of the event will take place from 7:30 – 8:45 am at the Fortenberry-Colton Physical Fitness Center. Participants are encouraged to pre-register for this event and forms are available at either PFC. The 1-Mile Fun Run is free and open to all children and will begin after the 5k is completed.

  • Spin Challenge: Fortenberry-Colton Physical Fitness Center,  from 5:30 – 7:30 pm. Come and challenge yourself! The cost is $3.50 or you may use your Fitness Card. Door prizes will be given and refreshments will be provided. Open to all authorized patrons. Dates: December 16

 

  • January 12, Resolution Execution: Get your New Years Resolution Kicked off on Monday, January 12 at Fortenberry- Colton Physical Fitness Center! We’ll be teaching a variety of classes—Spin, Zumba, Muscle Mix, TNT, Abs, Tabatha, yoga and MORE! First session will begin at 10 am and the second session will begin at 4 pm. All scheduled classes from 10 am -2 pm and then again from 4 pm-8 pm will be cancelled. Participants do not have to stay for the entire class but must be present to win in the drawing. We’ll have a four hour cardio marathon with a different teacher and different class every 30 minutes. We will have periodic drawings for participants. Prizes will be race t-shirts, water bottles, gift cards for personal training and group fitness classes. We will have fruit and water available.   • February 7, Black History 5K: The Fortenberry-Colton Physical Fitness Center will be hosting the annual Black History 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run on February 7 from 9-11 am. Registration on the day of the event will begin at Fortenberry-Colton Physical Fitness Center at 7:30 – 8:40 am. Participants are encouraged to pre-register for the event. The 1-Mile Fun Run is free and open to all, and will begin after the 5k is completed. Each Fun Run will receive a medal. Cost for Individual is $12.00 no shirt option; $20.00 by February 1 with shirt; $25.00 February 2 and after with shirt (while supplies last). Cost for teams is $120 for teams of 8, (each additional person pays normal registration fee) up to February 1, includes shirts; $160 by February 2 and up to race day, includes shirts (while supplies last). Refreshments will be provided. Event is open to the public. Trophies will be awarded to Overall Male/Female, Master Male/Female, Grandmaster Male/Female, 1st Place trophies in 14 age categories and medals for 2nd and 3rd place in 14 age categories. A trophy will also be awarded to the Fastest Runner with a Dog and the Fastest Runner with a Stroller. A Team trophy will be awarded to the Fastest Team and team streamers will be awarded to the top 10 finishing teams.   • March 14, St. Patrick’s Day 10K/5K and 1 Mile Fun Run: The Fort Rucker Physical Fitness Center will be hosting the annual St. Patrick’s day 5K/10K and 1 Mile Fun Run March 14 from 9 am-12 pm. Race Day registration is 7:30- 8:45 am at the Fort Rucker PFC on Andrews Avenue. Participants are encouraged to pre-register at either Physical Fitness Center. The Fun Run will begin after the 5k/10k race is complete, open to all children and free of charge. Each Fun Run participant will receive a medal. Costs per individual is $12.00 no shirt option. $20.00 by January 16 with shirt; $25.00 by January 17 and after with shirt (while supplies last). Cost for teams is $120 for teams of 8, (each additional person pays normal registration fee) until January 16, includes shirt; $160 by January 17 and up to race day, includes shirts (while supplies last). Refreshments will be provided. Event is open to the public. Trophies will be awarded to Overall Male/Female, Master Male/Female, Grandmaster Male/Female, 1st Place trophies in 14 age categories and medals for 2nd and 3rd place in 14 age categories.   • May 16, Army 10 Mile Run Off: The Fort Rucker Physical Fitness Center will be hosting the Army 10 Mile Run Offon May 16 from 7-10 am. Race day registration begins at 6 am at the Physical Fitness Center on Andrews Avenue. Pre-registration is $20 prior to April 27. April 28 and up to race day, the fee is $25. Registration fee for 5 person Relay team will be $10 per person; $12 no shirt option. Trophies will be awarded to the Overall Male & Female, Masters Male & Female, Grandmasters Male & Female, and Male & Female 2nd Place through 11th place finishers. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trophies awarded to the Relay Teams. Top active duty finishers will be considered for the team to represent Fort Rucker at the 10 Mile Run in Washington D.C.   • Adult Swim Lessons: Want to learn how to swim? The Fort Rucker Physical Fitness Center is offering Adult Swim Lessons throughout the month of January, February, and March. Beginner Level Swim Lessons will held from 11:45 am – 12:30 pm and 5:15 – 6 pm. Intermediate Level Swim Lessons will be held from 6:15 – 7 pm every Tuesday and Thursday this month for a total of 8 Sessions. Register at the Fort Rucker Physical Fitness Center’s front desk or MWR Central 3 days prior to the start of the Session.
