The Family Advocacy Program supports and
promotes the foundations of family well being by helping individuals and
families find positive ways to build family strengths, while respecting
confidentiality.
Shelter
Services
FAP provides a safe environment for family members who
are at risk for family violence. Shelter is provided until a plan can be
arranged. The length of stay varies with each case.
Respite Child Care
When families
involved in the Family Advocacy Program need a break from stressful
child-rearing situations, FAP can provide short-term child
care.
NEW Parent Support Program
(NPSP)
This program provides support and education services which
enhance parenting and child management skills. The program teaches parents
basic skills in physical care, protection, supervision and psychological
nurturance appropriate to the child's age and stage of development. The
program also provides parents with direct services, including hospital and
home visits, parent aides that serve as role models, information and
referral and community support services and resources. The program is one
of the many services within the Family Advocacy Program.

Victim
Advocacy
The reporting of abuse cases and treatment is provided
during duty hours by the Department of Behavior Medicine, Lyster Hospital
334-255-7029. When spouse abuse occurs, the Victim Advocate Program offers
the victim "lay support" or assistance that involves the full spectrum of
the victim's experience from reporting to resolution or emotional
recovery. The following services are just a few ways our volunteers and
staff assist:
Have you or somebody you know been
sexually assaulted?
Sexual violence hurts victims and all of
the people who care about them. Sexual violence impacts
survivors’ health, their emotions, and their day-to-day
lives. Talking to someone who cares can help make a
difference. Hotline support, individual counseling, advocacy
services and support groups can help you.
If you are a
military member or dependent & need help, or for more
information contact a Fort Rucker Victim Advocate:
(334) 255-7029 or (334) 255-9644.
If you prefer to seek
confidential services off base, please contact the House of

Reporting, Identification
and Treatment
By regulation, the primary focus of the FAP staff
at ACS is education and prevention. This doesn't mean, however, that
treatment issues are neglected. Reporting, identification and treatment of
child and spouse abuse are handled by the Family Advocacy Program
professionals working within the Department of Behavior Medicine (DBM).
The FAP Treatment Supervisor and the FAP Manager at ACS work closely to
provide the Fort Rucker community with a comprehensive program addressing
all aspects of the issues surrounding family violence.
