The United States Army Aviation Warfighting Center may be training the best helicopter pilots in the Army,...but we like to have fun too.  Each year Ft. Rucker DMWR hosts a variety of events for not only Soldiers and their
family members, but also for the community members living and working on and around the installation.  Small scale events with several hundred, to large scale events with thousands of spectators and participants.  From Concerts, to Expos, Festivals, and Firework displays, we're here to bring fun and exciting events and activities to you.

March 2008
Tuesday, 18 March 2008 - 20th Annual Travel Extravaganza.  Aviators’ Landing This consumer travel show, which is held at the Fort Rucker Aviators’ Landing, is the perfect opportunity to start planning for summer vacations or to check out some local travel destinations available in the area. Don’t miss this great, annual military travel fair with representatives from some of the hottest travel destinations with great prizes being given away throughout the event.

Saturday, 15 March 2008 Youth Services Ball fields behind the Post Office on 5th Avenue.  Children’s Festival This annual event is held each year around Mid-March to early April. Games, activities, and character appearances kick off this event, highlighted by one of the largest Easter Egg Hunts in the area. More than 800 children and their families take part each year.

May 2008
Saturday, 24 May 2008 – West Beach Lake Tholocco
Lake Fest is our annual kick off to summer celebration. Participants from all over the surrounding area visit the shores of Lake Tholocco for fun outdoor recreation. Admission to the park is free the day of the event. The lake offers a recreational swimming area with swimming enhancements like climbing icebergs, water bouncer and more. Multiple covered pavilions, grills, and playground facilities make Lake Tholocco a great place to have in the Sun!

July 2008

Friday, 4 July 2008 – Howze Field
Freedom Fest is the premier event for Fort Rucker. Hosted by our Commanding General and open to the public, this annual event is held on or around the 4th of July each year. Thousand of spectators attend to enjoy great food, great music and to witness the area’s largest fireworks display. Definitely fun fo
r the whole family...you won’t want to miss out!

Friday, 26 September 2008 – Howze Field Across from Aviators’ Landing on Novosel St. Oktoberfest Celebration German Music, Schnitzel, Bratwurst, Authentic German Beer, Vendors, Games, need we say more. The party of all parties you don’t want to miss!

Thursday, 4 December 2008, 5:00 - 6:00 p.m.  Christmas Tree Lighting this annual event is a family favorite. Fort Rucker’s very own 98th Army Band performs a melody of holiday songs while local choir groups sing. The Lighting of the Tree and a visit from Santa makes this a must do family event.

Saturday, 23 February 2008 – Lake Tholocco Outdoor Adventures Expo and BBQ is becoming an annual event hosting a variety of exhibitors with the newest and most exciting products in the sporting fields. From archery, paintball, hunting, fishing, skateboarding to children’s activities this event caters to the love of the great outdoors. Special guest performances made by the Chicago Honeybears.Check back to find out more details of some of exciting activities planned for this year’s Expo.
