School-age
child care is provided before and/or after school for children 6 -
10 years old. Full day care is provided during school
vacation periods. The SAS program is certified by the
Department of Def ense and accredited by the National School Age
Care Alliance (NSACA). The framework for our SAS
curriculum is based on the following four service areas:
Sports, Fitness, & Health; Life Skills, Citizenship, &
Leadership; Arts, Recreation & Leisure; and Mentoring,
Education, & Support

The
annual CYS registration fee is standard to create predictability,
continuity from installation to installation and consistency among
Army CYS programs. The annual registration fee is collected by
CYS Liaison, Education, and Outreach Services (CLEOS) which is then
used to support all CYS programs. The fee applies to all CYS
programs, i.e. Child Development Services (CDS), School Age Services
(SAS), Youth Services (YS) including Youth Sports and Fitness, and
Outreach Services.
Patrons pay the fee only once a year, and is transferable to any
post.

The
School Liaison Officer's role is to coordinate and assist school-age
children and youth of Army parents with educational opportunities
and information necessary to achieve academic success by working
with local schools to provide caring adults to enhance the
educational experience. All local school systems are
signatures of the U.S. Army Secondary Education Transition Study
(SETS) and are working on a Local Action Committee to
address
procedures for local implementation of the SETS guiding principles
to increase the likelihood of
predictability for mobile students.
